The Grand Hyatt Denver, located in downtown Denver's central business district, has undergone a major phased renovation of both the hotel exterior and key interior spaces. klipp, a division of gkkworks, developed a concept study and master plan that led to a 12,235 SF renovation of the entry/porte-cochere, banquet room, pre-function area and meeting rooms, and 13 of the hotel's premier suites, including the penthouse, presidential suites, VIP suites, king studio suites, and the Grand Club.
Renovation to the hotel's entry sequence includes new wall finishes, as well as drive and pedestrian surface upgrades of stone and backlit art glass. Renovation to the banquet and pre-function areas includes new wall, floor, and ceiling finishes, new lighting and audio-visual upgrades, as well as an accessibility review that resulted in extensive changes to accommodate ADA requirements. The complete redesign and refurnishing of the suites includes new interior layouts, upgraded finishes and custom mill work, as well as a new FF&E furnishing package. Public hallways and elevator lobbies are also part of the two-floor renovation.
The complete redesign of the porte-cochere and new hotel entrance canopy and façade was constructed in a very tight downtown setting and sequenced to allow for continuous hotel operation during construction. Coordinated project phasing by the design team allowed the hotel to remain fully operational during the interior renovation. The new porte-cochere identity and design of the banquet areas and premier suites reestablished Grand Hyatt Denver's classic, yet modern, character.
