gkkworks provided the FPP programming and designed this new LEED Certified, 135,000 SF building for the college's nursing and sciences programs. The facility consists of two wings: the northwest wing is a two-story structure housing the schools nursing program. The southeast wing is a four-story structure and accommodates science classrooms and laboratories. The building is a gateway to the campus, creating an entry and connection to pedestrian pathways as well as a science “quad” and courtyard. The design is contextual, reflecting “old mission style” architecture and the agricultural heritage of the area. Use of natural materials and natural light accentuate a connection to the outdoors and feeling of openness.
