Midfield Satellite Concourse North at LAX

Los Angeles World Airports

As part of the $8 billion Capital Improvement Program, Los Angeles World Airports selected gkkworks as part of the integrated design-build team to develop the Midfield Satellite Concourse (MSC), the next major passenger terminal project at LAX.

The satellite concourse, estimated at $1.6 billion will be a remote facility initially served by an airport busing operation and a passenger access tunnel (PAX) connection to the Bradley West Terminal. The project includes an addition, known as the ‘Gateway’, to the Bradley West Terminal in order to facilitate passenger access to the PAX tunnel. The Gateway, estimated at $35M, is an approximately 60,000 square foot addition to Bradley West with connections at the concourse and apron levels along with a mezzanine/club level and basement level that connects to the PAX tunnel. The new MSC will permit greater flexibility in scheduling improvements at other facilities, reduce reliance on remote gates, and ensure a high level of service for LAX passengers. We are teamed with Turner, PCL, and Corgan in association with Gensler on this project.
